Learn to touch type in two weeks
Typing without looking roughly doubles most people's speed, and it takes less time to learn than you'd think.
Days 1 to 3: home row only. Fingers rest on A S D F and J K L ;. Feel the bumps on F and J. Use a free site like keybr.com or typing.com and practise 15 minutes a day.
Days 4 to 7: add the top and bottom rows. Each finger owns a column. Slow down. Accuracy first, speed comes on its own.
Week 2: real text. Type out articles or song lyrics. Cover your hands with a tea towel if you keep peeking.
Rules:
- Never look at the keyboard, even when it's slower. It will be slower for about a week.
- Short daily practice beats one long session.
- Expect to drop below your old speed before you overtake it. Most people pass their old speed around day 10.
