Write a complaint email that actually gets results
Angry emails get ignored or passed around. Clear ones get fixed.
Structure:
- Subject line with the facts: "Order 48213: wrong size delivered, requesting exchange"
- What happened, in two or three sentences, with dates and numbers.
- What you want. Refund, replacement, repair, or a call back. Be specific; "I'm very disappointed" doesn't tell them what to do.
- A reasonable deadline: "Could you let me know by Friday 7 November?"
- Attach evidence: photos, receipt, screenshots.
Tone: polite and firm. The person reading it usually didn't cause the problem, but they can fix it.
If nothing happens by the deadline, reply to the same email (so the history stays together) and ask for it to be escalated. Then look up your consumer rights; many countries have a free ombudsman or consumer service.
