A CV layout that actually gets read
Recruiters often spend under a minute on a first look. Make that minute count.
Keep it to one page unless you have more than 10 years of relevant experience.
In this order:
- Name and contact details. Email, phone, city. A link to a portfolio or profile if it helps.
- Two-line summary. What you do and what you're looking for.
- Experience, newest first. For each job: title, company, dates, then 2 to 4 bullet points.
- Skills. Only the ones that matter for this job.
- Education.
Write bullet points as results, not duties.
Instead of "Responsible for social media", write "Grew the shop's Instagram from 300 to 4,000 followers in a year".
Before sending: save it as a PDF, name the file Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf, and read it out loud once to catch mistakes.
